Shutter Speed and Aperture
Shutter Speed is in simple the speed of the shutter opening and closing.
A Slow/Long Shutter speed captures movement it will show this with a blur.
A Fast/Short Shutter Speed will freeze movement with no blur.
Aperture in simple is how big the iris is and how much light can enter the camera when taking a picture, its measured in F-Stops ranging from F/1 to F/32..
Fast Shutter speed require a large aperture like f/1.4 or f/5.6 because it needs to let as much light in as possible otherwise the picture will appear underexposed/dark.
Slow Shutter speeds require small apertures like F/16 or f/22 because because there will be lots of light entering so it needs to reduce this amount otherwise the picture will appear overexposed/white.

For 7 Of the pictures below, this picture shows the setup I had, a Canon DSLR Camera on a Tripod pointing out to the road at around 8 PM

Summary
For 7 pictures in my Composition below, I setup my DSLR Camera on a tripod facing out to the road, the only source of light were the lampposts and moonlight - As cars past I took pictures and I changed the shutter speed from 1/250 of a second to 30 seconds, As I decreased the speed more light was getting into the camera so I had to adjust the aperture when taking the pictures.
The last 2 pictures were taken without a tripod by hand with fast shutter speed to freeze mid air action
