Salvador Dali is a Spanish Artist who lived in the 20th Century, his key areas were painting, drawing, photography and sculpture. one of his key themes was surrealism.
The 'Melting Clock' Artwork was painted by him in 1931. The artwork is full of vibrant colors: Yellows, Greens, Blues and Browns. I think he started off by painting an average regular landscape scene with a blue sky, sandy beach and a rocky mountains then after that added his own twist to it with surrealistic things like the 3 dimensional corner of a cube and bending melting an broken looking clock folding over the edge which overall creates a sense of layers. It is unknown how long it took it him to paint it or what size of a canvas he used and the texture of it however I imagine it to be an A1 size with smooth surface. The 'Eye in the desert' artwork was painted in 1945. To me this is like a painting inside of another painting. The main subject of it is the 2nd canvas in the middle on a painting stand, similarly to Salvador Dali other painting I feel like he started off with the basic landscape of the desert and scenery then and then painted on top but with this one it seems like he had a larger version of the basic landscape then redid it again smaller in the middle and then added the eye, this would've taken him a very long time to paint and requires probably the best of artist skills.
The Theme of Weird and Wonderful flows throughout a lot of Salvador Dali's Work since his ideas were so unique and creative. |
